This mobile leather repairs job was to repair and renew damaged leather in a 2006 Bentley GT convertible. The owner was very attached to the car and didn’t want to sell it, but the leather was worn and has dye transfer from years of use. There were a number of deep scratches in the leather seats. The first step in our project was to buff out the scratch marks as much as we could. This left a smooth surface to make it simpler to clean the leather and begin repairs. We did a full deep clean using a very strong leather cleaner on all the leather in the car. This ensured that all built up dirt and oils were removed from the grain of the leather and prepared it for repairs and colour.

Once the leather had been cleaned and dried, our mobile leather repairs could begin. We used leather filler to fill in all deep scratches until they could no longer be felt or seen on the surface of the leather. To speed the Bentley leather renovation, we used a hair dryer to cure the filler in between coats. After each coat, we rubbed back the surface and added more filler until the marks were gone.

With all the scratches removed, we were ready to focus on the colour of the leather. To ensure a good match between the original faded leather and the newly repaired sections, we applied a base coat of leather dye by hand. Hand dying allowed us to blend the colour well into the grain of the leather. We followed that with a coat of dye applied with an airbrush to ensure even results with no lines or streak marks. We finished this Bentley leather renovation with a leather sealant to prevent colour transfer and protect the repaired leather.
