Mazda Cx 5
Today, we had the pleasure of working on a Mazda CX-5 in Peterborough. The customer had a car diffuser, and unfortunately, the oils from the diffuser had leaked onto the dashboard, causing some damage.
We began by masking up the surrounding areas to ensure no further damage could occur. We took great care in covering various areas to protect them during the process. Once everything was fully protected, we started by cleaning down the affected area to remove any dirt or debris from the pores of the leather.
Next, we performed a deep clean using leather prep and alcohol cleaner. This step removed the oils and the original manufacturing finish from the leather, preparing it for the re-dyeing process. We then meticulously matched the dye to the surrounding areas, achieving an extremely matte finish. To do this, we added a dulling agent to the dye, allowing us to achieve a perfect match.
We applied several coats of leather dye, building up the colour in fine layers with the help of an airbrush to ensure nice, fine, even coats. To complete the repair, we applied a coat of lacquer finish to seal in the repairs, giving it a professional and durable finish.
