Here we have a cigarette burn on a back seat of a mini.

This was a very difficult repair to achieve a great result due to the show stitching on the seat.

Before

We started by cleaning the seat using our strong leather cleaner, this helps us reach deep in to the grain removing and contaminates that may be in the leather.

The show stitching lines are then masked up so we can protect throughout the repair process.

Any hard areas around the cigarette burn is cut out using a sharpe knife we have to make sure we have a nice soft and supple area for the repair products to adhere to.

On the area we used Viper Duruflex Clear with a graining pad, this is a flexible heat cured compound which uses fibreglass fibres for extra strength when filling holes, this is a world leading product from the United States, and far superior to anything we have come across in the uk.

Now the tricky part, mixing the dye, there are so many different colours and shades of colours that you really do need to know your stuff to complete a flawless finish.
We mix all our dyes by eye so that match the area we are working with, there are lots of repair companies that will come and collect a sample for someone else to make up the leather dye or just apply the closest colour they have.

Here you can see the after picture, a flawless finish on the beautiful Mini.
